Family Day at the Santa Monica Pier

Can we talk about joy for a minute? Unbridled, bare feet in the sand, flying through the air on a carnival ride, joy? We don’t do enough of it, but we were lucky enough to spend a day in December with visiting family at the Santa Monica Pier and I just can’t keep the photographs to myself. I love them too much.

It was one of those perfect, why we live in Southern California, winter days – bright sky, gorgeous weather, pink turning to gold sunset. We played on the beach and went on some of the carnival rides on the pier, and then to the playground where we watched the sky put on the most epic show.

It was a reset for all of us. Every kid had a meltdown at some point, but it was beyond worth it. Looking at these photographs, I’m reminded to get out from behind my computer and go enjoy this beautiful world of ours.

I hope this gets your wheels turning for where a family photography session could take place. Your home and local parks are lovely, but I’d love to capture your family having an adventure!
